“Ei” is used in scenarios where YOU and the LISTENER shares the same experience.
Eg:
1. With family members you use the word “ei” to say “our house” … “ei IN”, but with friends you use the word “kan IN”
2. With teammates you use the word “ei hrat” to say “We Win” .. but speaking to some other person (not a part of your team) you
use the word “kan hrat”
“Kan” is used in scenarios where YOU relate something you’ve experienced to a LISTENER who has not shared the same experience.
Eg:
1. There were 3 friends Rama, Mawia and Thanga.
Rama and Mawia went to the movie, Thanga stays home.
After the movie, this is how the story goes.
Rama to Mawia ::: Ei movie en chu a nal cher cher ie maw.
Mawia to Rama ::: Thaw ding chi tak ei thaw a ni kha..
Rama to Thanga ::: Kan movie en chu a nal cher cher a ni aw.
